The Brand New Testament (2015)

englanti Exasperatingly long and boring, with cringey humor, the peak of which is a male gorilla in the role of a life partner. These are exactly the reasons why I dislike French cinema (with a few exceptions). Plus, the film is purposely trying to cater to absolutely everyone. Luckily, I'm a cynic and I saw through it straight away.

Schneider vs. Bax (2015)

englanti Once something started happening in the film, I started enjoying it. There’s an interesting plot with an interesting denouement, but the intro seems to go on forever. The first half of the film is incredibly draggy and reminded me of Vietnam war movies (mud, reeds, mud, reeds, reeds, mud, reeds...) only without the war, so it’s really just long shots of Dutch mud. I'm not strictly an action movie fan, and I don’t mind films with a calmer pace, but there should be something going on other than just the rippling of reeds. The 3 stars are for the second half of the film. It could have been 4 had it not been for the unfortunate reeds...

Pride And Prejudice And Zombies (2016)

englanti I’ve heard so much negative criticism about this film that I was almost starting to believe it would be as bad as everyone had said. Having seen it, I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. What I liked most was how it managed to keep the original basic storyline in such a wacky plot. That must have been a superhuman feat. I was pleased with the cast. You don't get to see so many Lannisters these days even in Game of Thrones. Overall, I enjoyed this Victorian romantic zombie slasher film.

Tanssi haudoilla (2014)

englanti A well-made action film bordering on a film noir that keeps up its suspenseful atmosphere from start to finish. Although there are fewer gunfights compared to other Neeson films, it’s not a bad thing in this case. The film has a good atmosphere and steers clear of unnecessary sentimentality and pathos, so I greatly enjoyed it.

What We Do in the Shadows (2014)

englanti A documentary about a community of undead in New Zealand. I didn't really feel like watching it, but the very first minute made me change my mind. The budget was obviously not huge, but it made the film all the better. I haven't had such a blast in a long time. I was even sorry it was over. All the characters were great, but Vlad and Jackie were my favorites. Great entertainment that I recommend to almost everyone.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016)

englanti I wonder what the Americans would make films about if they weren't constantly spreading democracy everywhere. I can’t wait to see an action-packed film about returning stolen land to Indian tribes. But back to the film. The fight scenes are shot well – I especially liked the sequence with the mine à la first-person action. Unfortunately, the film is ruined by E.T.-call-home-type scenes. One of the final lines "I don't know how you survived all that. But I know how the rest of us did" almost made me throw up in my mouth a little. As usual, a giant dose of patriotism and pathos, but I’m sure the film is a huge success on the home front.

Hardcore (2015)

englanti An interesting first-person combat film until about halfway through. Then it starts to get boring by repeating virtually the same plot over and over again. I kept wondering how many more enemies Henry would have to shoot, slash, beat or tear apart with his bare hands for the plot to move forward. I still don't know the answer. Even after the death of the last villain, I don't really know what it was all about, or why the main bad guy had telekinetic powers. The film just lacks a point. The plot goes from point A to who knows where or why. 3 stars are for the first 40 minutes and for all Sharlto Copley’s incarnations.

Er ist wieder da (2015)

englanti Definitely a matter that has an idea, clear evidence that if the creator wants to warn about something, they should do so in the form of comedy, because the impact is greater. On the other hand, Germans should stop constantly apologizing for their ancestors, grandparents, and great-grandparents, especially those who did not hesitate to take advantage of anything and anyone from the former Reich after the war (for example, the American rocket program built on Werner von Braun or former SS members fighting in the Foreign Legion in French Indochina). Well, comedy and so much to contemplate...

Grimsby (2016)

englanti Along with The Dictator, the best thing Cohen has made.  A cocktail of engaging action scenes with sophisticated as well as scatological humor that oddly works as a whole. Plus, the cast is very interesting, resulting in a well-made and unpretentious comedy.
