englanti Genre craftsmanship with decent technical qualities, combining familiar things, but in a likable high-octane plot and with a healthy dose of brutality. Blood Red Sky offers a combination of epicness and a B-movie nature on a scale similar to Snyder’s Army of the Dead, but more dignified. The bits of nonsense are equally balanced by cool moments. ()

englanti Great work by the makeup artists, the lead actress with her sheer physicality tries her best, and you can never have enough claustrophobic thrillers inside planes, and I also found the storyline of how she came to her vampirism compelling. The problem is that from the “barbecue in the car” scene onwards, it gets dangerously close to full B-movie, where logic takes a holiday, with a horribly overacting main villain who mistakenly thought that the more he screamed, jerked his head like a pigeon and shouted, the more horrible he would be. Mistake. But he wasn't up to the nasty little brat, who was as likable as a freshly attached tick and had about as much acting talent as Okamura and Babiš. ()

englanti From the premise "terrorists and vampires on a plane" I was expecting crap, but Blood Red Sky was surprisingly good. Sure, it's bollocks at its core, but bollocks that’s fun, well shot, and that builds up into a surprisingly large-scale and intense massacre. This is how Snyder's Army of the Dead should have turned out. It could have had a few minutes less, there's really no reason for a B movie of this type to be almost two hours long, but never mind. For the inveterate complainers, I don't understand why they keep watching these movies at all. ()

englanti A decent German vampire movie from Netflix. Personally, I was expecting something better, but since the vampire movies of the last few years have been going more in the art direction, it would be unfair to shoot this one down with an average rating, even though I'm closer to 3 stars after watching it. On the plus side, it has an attractive airplane setting from which there is no escape, and the cramped atmosphere works well. The make-up effects are good, it has decent technical aspects, a fine pacing, and I like the idea of combining the hijacking of the plane by terrorists with vampires, that's quite original. The downside for me is the running time of two hours, 90 minutes would have been more than enough for a film of this calibre (which is also affected by the slower start). The gore, unfortunately, is almost missing (you don’t see any guts, limbs or severed heads), and there’s not enough blood for my taste (it's not even close to Army of the Dead), but I'll turn a blind eye, I wasn't bored. The film deserves the genre four stars from the absence of decent vampire movies at least in the last five years. Story 3/5, Action 4/5, Humor 0/5, Violence 3/5, Fun 4/5 Music 4/5, Visuals 4/5, Atmosphere 4/5, Suspense 3/5. 7/10. ()
