I don’t think that Ultras deserves all the hatred it’s getting. There’s no reason for it. It’s a standard festival classic, which, due to its story, definitely does not suit everyone’s tastes. It offers an unprecedentedly raw view of soccer “fans” from Naples, and since I believe that similar fans exist in my country as well, I will not say that the Italians are nuts. However, when you combine their extremism with the incessant shouting and vulgarisms, you’ll have a hard time watching this all the way to the end without losing your sanity. However, for me it was worth it, because the best parts of the film are its beginning and ending, which in combination with the excellent music explains why hooligans do what they do. Which doesn’t justify them; quite the opposite. Because of this, this film is definitely worthy of your attention.
