Marcos is a quiet and withdrawn forest ranger at a national park. His peaceful solitude is invaded by two biologists who come to study the mysterious deaths of a number of birds in the area. As time passes the interactions between the ranger and the scientists grow strained. The desire and envy for normality represented by the couple awaken a darker side of Marcos' personality that comes to the fore. (Warsaw Film Festival)

Most of the time, The Sacrifice is a not very captivating, though slightly mysterious drama that cautiously reveals the personalities of environmentalists trying to solve the mystery of mass animal deaths in a Colombian national park. The final shocking yet very intimate scene provides the impetus that links and underlines all of the addressed existential issues and the film acquires a strong thought-provoking dimension.
