Oleg Pogodin (b. 1965, Salsk, USSR) studied screenwriting at VGIK in Moscow (1993). In the early 1990s he began making music videos and commercials, and only turned to films and television work later on. He has shot several commercial action films and has numerous successful TV projects to his name. The hit television mini-series “The Homeland Is Waiting” (“Rodina zhdyot”, 2003) gave rise to the feature film The Invincible (Nyepobedimy, 2008), a commercial project requested by his producer. As a “reward,” he was able to embark upon a film aimed at a more discerning audience, his elegiac drama Dom – A Russian Family.
