Biografia

Stefania LaVie Owen's young life has been far less conventional than that of most American girls. Growing up from the age of four in Wellington, New Zealand, her film career began at age 10, when she was cast as Flora Hernandez in the Paramount Pictures feature film, The Lovely Bones, directed by Sir Peter Jackson.

After many well-received performances, Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz nabbed her for his next Fox TV comedy series, Running Wilde, casting her as the show's "wise beyond her years" narrator, Puddle Kadubic, opposite Keri Russell and Will Arnett. In April 2011, Owen was cast as Rob Riggle's daughter in the CBS television movie, Home Game, produced by Mark Wahlberg.

However, it was with the CW series The Carrie Diaries that Owen became a breakout star, as young teens identified with her character, Dorrit, the rebellious younger sister trying to figure out her identity in her family after her mother's death.

In the quirky coming of age homage to J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye, Owen starred alongside Alex Wolff in Coming Through The Rye, portraying the caring best friend of an awkward teen trying to navigate his way through his troubled adolescence and his obsession with the classic novel. The independent film made its debut at the 2015 Austin Film Festival.

Playing characters with heart, depth and an earthy intelligence which belies her youth, Owen appeared in All We Had, which also stars Katie Holmes. In a poignant urban drama about a single mother struggling to make a better life for her daughter. Adapted by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), the film marked Katie Holmes' directorial debut.
