Biografia

Born and educated in Budapest, where he remained until the beginning of World War I. He worked as a bacteriologist for the Rockefeller Institute. After completing his military service, he made several films and immigrated to the United States. In 1928, he abandoned the natural sciences and filmed his first experimental feature The Last Moment. The success of this first film earned him a contract with Universal. In 1928 he filmed Lonesome, a moving story about loneliness in the big city. The film is striking for its innovative camerawork. Fejos returned to Europe during the 30s and became an acclaimed scientific documentary producer, though he continued to make fiction features.
