Fernando Trueba

Fernando Trueba debuted in 1980 with Ópera prima, award-winner in Venice and Chicago. In 1993 his film Belle Époque received the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, as well as nine Goya awards. In San Sebastian he has shown Mientras el cuerpo aguante (Official Selection, 1982), El milagro de Candeal (Velodrome, 2004), El baile de la victoria (The Dancer and the Thief, Official Selection, out of competition, 2009) and El artista y el modelo (The Artist and the Model, 2012), Best Director Silver Shell. Also worthy of mention in his filmography are El año de las luces (1986), El sueño del mono loco (The Mad Monkey, 1989), La niña de tus ojos (The Girl of Your Dreams, 1998), Calle 54 (2000) and Chico & Rita (2012), co-directed with Javier Mariscal, candidate for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. El olvido que seremos is part of the Cannes 2020 Official Selection.
