Sergey Bodrov

Sergei Bodrov was born and grew up in the Far East of Russia. He worked as a journalist prior to writing over twenty screenplays. He co-wrote EAST-WEST and is the author of the book, “Liberte=Paradis,” published by Actes Sud in France.

He directed his first film in Kazakhstan. Central Asia is an area he knows well and loves. His film PRISONER OF THE MOUNTAINS was the recipient of the FIPRESCI International Critics Prize at Cannes, an Academy Award nomination for “Best Foreign Film,” and received the European Academy Award for “Best European Writer of the Year.”

Bodrov lives in Moscow, Arizona and Kazakhstan.
