Hlynur Pálmason directed, in 2017, his first feature film, Vinterbrødre (Winter Brothers), which landed nine Danish Academy Robert Awards, including Best Director and Best Film. The movie competed in Locarno, where it carried off four awards, including Best Actor. His next work, Hvítur, hvítur dagur (A White, White Day, 2019), screened at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, where its lead character, Ingvar Sigurdsson, won the Louis Roederer Foundation's Rising Star Award. With Godland he returned to the French fest in 2022, this time as part of Un Certain Regard.
