Rodrigo Barriuso

Biografia

Rodrigo Barriuso is a Cuban-Canadian filmmaker writes, directs and produces. He studied Film Making in Toronto and London. With a background in Art Theory and many years spent employed at art galleries in Havana and Toronto, Rodrigo’s cinematic approach is highly influenced by the conceptual and aesthetic values that often inform the art world. His work has been exhibited in festivals in Canada, USA, England, Australia and France. He founded El Pensamiento Films in Canada and directed four short films: Discomfort (2009), Jane Corkin: Establishing the Still Image (2010), Fair Game (2011) and For Dorian (2012), Rodrigo’s first narrative film, for which he received the Norman Jewison Filmmakers Award 2012 and the Lindalee Tracey Award in 2013, among others. His next film project was a short biopic based on the late years of the acclaimed twentieth century photographer Andre Kertesz.
