Tappokauppa (1974)

englanti It’s like the English version of The French Connection. Both Quinn and Caine are excellent, the story is interesting and suspenseful, and the scenes like the car chase are flawless. Only the ending could have been more gripping. Very decent four stars.

Igor (2008)

englanti Igor suffers from several classic screenwriting clichés, which unfortunately turn an interestingly dark animation into a bland spectacle intended primarily for children (although it doesn't look like that at first). It is slightly above average thanks to the characters, such as a sensational undead rabbit longing for death, as well as the scripted allusions to various horror films (Frankenstein is obvious to everyone, but concepts like Braindead and Jekyll and Hyde are also included, although in the female versions of Jaclyn and Heidi), well-chosen voice actors (the lisp of Cusack, Buscemi's rabbit or Cleese's half-crazy Dr. Glickenstein), decent if not dazzling animation, and Patrick Doyle's excellent score (even he pokes a little fun at his own Frankenstein here). So I'll give it three stars.

Neljäs sopimus (1987)

englanti This is a decent atmospheric suspense film, whose plot structure does not deny its source from the book's and its author (Forsyth was always good), who also wrote the screenplay for The Fourth Protocol. Caine is good as always, Brosnan uniquely negative and slimy, and the final idea is good. I wasn't actually bored during the film and I praise Schifrin's music and MacKenzie's direction. I just didn't understand why Russian spy-terrorists pass on ciphers written in English.

Willo the Wisp (1981) (sarja)

englanti The series itself is worth four stars, but the fifth one is easily earned by the dubbing by Olda Kaiser. The evil television Edna has always been one of my idols and will continue to be. The fairy tale also needs to be appreciated because it comes from a time when fairy tales were not only for children, but adults also found something in them (and sometimes much more). If you don't happen to know what it's about (and want to reminisce nostalgically, like I do now), then go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdxIJ3YqkJY

Katastrofikytät (2010)

englanti Yes, some people are satisfied with the small things in life. Would you like to know what I expect from a relaxing comedy? Well, for example, a minimum of boredom, a script full of jokes of all kinds, actors who can handle them, pace, swing and at least a little bit of skillful direction, if the comedy is also supposed to include a bit of action... The Other Guys has all that. I have to admit that I was very pleasantly surprised by the well-chosen and well-acting duo of Wahlberg and Ferrell (the dialogue about lions and tunas is the best). Michael Keaton as the "Captain" was also good, I would never dare to say anything against Eva Mendes, I like Steve Coogan more and more, and as for The Rock and Samuel L. Johnson - well... The only minus is that it could have been about 15 minutes shorter. Three and a half stars - however, I will boldly round up.

Nevinnost (2011)

englanti It goes something like this: It looks good, but it's not good. Hřebejk certainly knows how to make films, he knows how to choose his actors and music, he uses imaginative camera angles and even an ordinary conversation looks interesting thanks to these aspects... But the screenplay that Jarchovský wrote this time is terrible. I've actually seen two (or three) films connected by an awkward transition, which was probably supposed to take my breath away and make me say "Well, that's really something", but that didn't happen. I honestly suffered through the last third of Innocence. It’s a pity about Ondřej Vetchý, who had practically nothing to do and was still just Ondřej Vetchý, it’s a pity about Luděk Munzár, who was completely useless, and it’s a pity about Anna Geislerová, who also just repeated several characters from her acting past. The two and a half stars I give are purely for Hřebejk's work, and I round up perhaps only for Zita Morávková. But I truly hesitate to do so.

Talladega Nights - Bensaa suonissa (2006)

englanti This is the first movie starring Will Ferrell that I actually enjoyed. Really! Less than two hours passed incredibly fast, I had a great time and laughed... I even wondered about it after it was over. Of the actors and their characters, I liked Cohen's Frenchman Girard the best, but Ferrell's bumbling racer who either wins or crashes was also very good. Not to mention the other characters, like Ricky's family members or his best friend. The final race is really something - among other things thanks to episodes like an interview with Kenny Rogers, who is not actually Kenny Rogers, or a commercial inserted directly into the crash. Well done!__P.S. I'd make a cougar in the back seat mandatory as of next year.

Olympic: Trilogy Tour (2006) (videokooste)

englanti Of course, it's not like "being there", but the concert is great - long, nicely filmed, full of energy and nostalgia (say what you want, but Olympic are the Czech version of the Rolling Stones). Perhaps the only minus is that I didn’t get to hear my favorite song “Kyvadlo času" in the Laboratory block. I wonder why they left it out? It's hard to say.

Tappava tunnustus (1980)

englanti I'm seriously wavering between three and four stars - so I'll give it three and a half, which I'll round down. Dressed to Kill is a very solid example of what De Palma can do. For example, the long camera rides underlined by beautiful (this time Donaggio's) music. Furthermore, there is also the combining scenes that take your breath away (the opening shower, the gallery sequence) with scenes that are incredibly suspenseful (the best one takes place at the station and on the train). The weakest link in this whole erotic-thriller chain is probably the script. Not that it's predictable... But it's not a slam dunk either. At least it relies on reliable actors like Michael Caine, who simply does not disappoint.__P.S. The filmmakers could have done without the final 10 minutes.

Ďábel ví hodně (1983) (TV elokuva)

englanti A decent, definitely untypical comedy by Vorlíček's standards (Macourek didn't write it), which is not explosively funny, but rather a pleasant, careful comedy. The production, of course, benefits most from Jiří Sovák, whose wisdoms such as "You can't see into a melon or a woman" are unforgettable. I was surprised by Sovák's good interplay with Miroslav Vladyka, and Jiřina Bohdalová did not disappoint in terms of comedic talent. I give it a nice three and a half stars rounded up for the final confrontation.
