A decent crime drama dealing with the unsolved murder of rappers Tupac and Biggie. Johnny Depp is decent as a detective and Forest Whitaker as a journalist. The film has a slower pace, but it doesn't get boring and the ending is definitely intriguing. For fans of the genre. 65%

If anyone is going to remake Disney classics, it should be Jon Favreau! The Jungle Book may have had more swing and adventure, but The Lion King is also breathtaking in its visuals, music, emotion and nostalgia. Tears on the edge of my eyes more or less the whole film. The scene with the hyenas is wonderfully creepy and the lion fight a clear highlight. The fairy tale of my childhood got a solid tribute. 85%.

On the whole an entertaining romp with more wisecracks than action, but Samuel L. Jackson steals all the scenes for himself and once again entertains. Story-wise it doesn't bring anything new, but thanks to the fast pace and plenty of wisecracks you won't get bored. 65%

This year, the popular horror series Stranger Things is back, and in Season 3 we get a look at what summer is like in Hawkins. The series once again maintains a very high quality and it seems to me that there is now a bigger budget as the central monster is reminiscent of the best of The Thing. Eleven continues to be the biggest draw, all the scenes with her are some of the best and I really enjoyed Dustin doing something unexpected. There are multiple storylines at once that tie in nicely at the end, the retro vibe is once again amazing and the details are great (the poster of Romero's Night of the Living Dead outside the cinema was cool) and the addition of the Russians makes the third season both more action packed and more suspenseful, even if the horror side can seem to go slightly sideways. The finale is very emotional and definitely unexpected. The first season remains the best, but the third certainly doesn't do it any disgrace and I'm looking forward to the fourth! 80%

A lauded Thai mainstream horror romance that definitely has charm, but is more fairy tale than horror for my taste. The film is nicely made, has an original idea about a demon that attacks a woman's body and separates her head from her body at night, and goes hunting everything that breathes and lives. This happens to the main character in a small town where a group of demon hunters are currently running around, as well as her two rivals in love. It's two hours long, so the pacing is slower and it does get a little too romantic at times, but when it comes to the action it's pretty solid, there's occasional gore and some decent practical make-up effects to commend. Definitely the most interesting horror film of the last month, and deserves attention for its originality and execution. 60%.

A decent artsy look at the formation of the first Colombian cartels. The cattle trade is gradually upgraded to the drug trade, sparking a power and money struggle between families. I wasn’t happy with the slower pace, but thankfully there is some decent action towards the end. Not a very entertaining film, but very interesting and informative. Those who like cartel movies should not miss it. 65%.

Very funny comedy! The story revolves around a group of three old friends who are invited to a school reunion after thirty years. Before the reunion, they want to take a trip to a spa and party like they did when they were young, but with the condition that Til Schweiger's stepdaughter, who doesn't trust her stepfather one bit, goes along. Very funny situations, decent jokes, great pace and a very pleasant feeling carries throughout the film. I enjoyed and laughed a lot. 80%.

I was expecting a bigger ride and trip, but still a cool movie full of familiar faces, weed and half naked women. Matthew McConaughey is completely natural in his role and occasionally slips in a fine line, but I was expecting a lot more humor and fun. Interesting, unconventional with a spiritual twist, but once was enough. 60%.

I’m unable understand how it's possible for the director of Law Abiding Citizen, Straight Outta Compton and Fast and Furious 8 can make such a sterile and uninteresting borefest. The film doesn't offer interesting visuals or action, the acting is alright, but Chris Hemsworth overacts quite a bit and the humor works rather infrequently. I really don't know what went wrong, but Men in Black: International comes across as second or third rate compared to what normally goes to the cinemas. 40%.

Luc Besson serves up a great spy action thriller with a sex appeal-laden Sasha Luss. It's exactly the kind of gritty action flick that has been missing from cinemas for the last few years. The main character is having a hard time in life, in fact she's almost broke until she gets the opportunity to become a KGB government assassin with no competition. Cillian Murphy as the CIA chief and Luke Evans from the KGB are also great. The frequent time jumping is slightly confusing at first, but it gets proper meaning as the film progresses and there are surprisingly enough unexpected twists. There could have been more action, but when it comes down to it, you'll be sweating pretty hard. The five-minute restaurant scene in one take rivals John Wick, and cutting guys with a torn plate instead of a knife is an awesome idea! There are more than enough headshots and dead bodies. I had fun, just what I needed at the movies this summer. 80%
