The Italian movie The Binding certainly does not do Italian horror any great service. It is a movie that is more of a gamble in the sense that there is no original storyline as the movie’s makers went with the tried and true tropes that they seem to have used so that they did not have the problem of trying to come up with even at least a slightly original movie. However, what more can I say? It is OK if you just want to pass the time one evening.

If you only watch it once, then a few episodes of the American television series Prank Encounters can be quite entertaining. However, this outright nastiness just does not sit well with me. Although, I have to admit that the execution is very good. The people who were the butt of some very elaborate pranks are all quite believable and their reactions do not feel staged. Also, the special effects are surprisingly good from time to time.

The third season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is just a rambling introduction to what the final season is going to be about. There has to be a big collision, the narrative requires some closure, and there is bound to be a big confrontation. However, wading through this eight-episode season simply to get through to the last few minutes is not anything a viewer could get excited about. I was not thrilled and only finished this season more out of a sense of duty, hoping that the last season would be better.

While it was nice that the second season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina got off to a pretty good start, it was not necessarily a direction that I was downright excited about. It is still fairly restricted and feels like a weird fetish at times, whereas it feels entertaining at other times, which is fine I guess. The main character is quite engaging and helps you get immersed in this show with some more horror elements, which is cool.

The first season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is very enjoyable in that you do not really know what to expect. You cannot predict the characters’ development within the narrative and how the show itself will develop. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina television series straddles the line between something grittier and a show primarily aimed at teens, so you cannot tell which way it is going to go. The sex scenes are almost embarrassing, although that is different in terms of its grittiness. Plus, it is a cool show.

Fortunately, the French series Until Dawn is a very quick snack that is easy to wolf down, although it is just as easily forgotten. It is forgettable because there is simply no point in expecting any terrifying or entertaining scenes. In addition, unfortunately, this miniseries was supposed to be fun yet just somehow failed in that regard because it is also woefully short on laughs.

The Chambers miniseries mainly plays on the fact that there is a gradual uncovering of what happened to Becky, who she was, and what is behind Sasha not feeling like herself. When it comes to the show's conclusion and the big reveal, you could be forgiven for thinking it is a bit too overwrought. However, until that point, it introduces some interesting characters where no one is blameless or perfect, so in that way, Chambers works.

The American movie Vampires vs. the Bronx is an example of what Netflix wants to offer to basically all ages. Sure, it is not really for children, although, say, kids over ten could probably watch it. The violence is kept to a minimum, and there is almost no nudity. However, it only occasionally succeeds in building some atmosphere. Otherwise, however, Vampires vs. the Bronx is primarily an entertaining movie, although it is nothing more than that.

Ghost Stories is one of the best Indian horror movies I have ever seen. Yes, compared to other productions, it may not be that groundbreaking or revelatory. However, it is very much its own thing in places, and you can see the moviemakers taking it in their own very specific direction. Putting the inconsistency of the individual narratives aside, as it does not matter, it absolutely works. I could really go for some other Indian horror movies produced in this way.

The first season of the Egyptian supernatural-horror drama streaming television series Paranormal proves that they produce very interesting horror shows even in the Arab world. This is despite the fact it is certainly not an area known for producing many of them. One downside is that the show can occasionally get a little overcomplicated and could do with a little less CGI. Despite that, however, it still manages to combine horror elements with various emotional contexts. I liked their interconnectedness, it worked for me.
