A Haunted House 2 (2014)

englanti I am certain that the movie "A Haunted House 2", which we apparently won't see in Czech cinemas, is not a great comedy, but it simply clicked with me. There are moments that could easily stand in a serious horror film, but most importantly, there are jokes that are not just stupid. Yes, the banal ones prevail, but this time I had a feeling that someone actually tried and wanted the entertainment to not be completely senseless. And they succeeded.

Netherland Dwarf (2008)

englanti But yeah, quite an interesting story about how sometimes we search for something we have long found, we just don't know it. We can't see it with our eyes. The rabbit is an interesting catalyst of events here, but unfortunately, they are cut off quite early. Yes, we can speculate on how it continues, but I almost feel like the characters deserve a bit more. However, some scenes will still leave an impression on you.

Kersantti York (1941)

englanti Gary Cooper is the great protagonist of this film. Without him, it would never be what it is. His gaze, his speech, the way he plays so simply and naturally are the highlights of the film about how one person's life can change, but how the person themselves may not change as much. It's a nice story about a man who didn't want to be great, but ended up becoming one, at least a little bit. However, I guess I was still expecting a slightly stronger experience.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

englanti Alright then. Wes Anderson absolutely won me over with this, mainly because he cast Ralph Fiennes in a role that perfectly suited his British acting. I had a great time, it is wonderfully magical, and once again I enjoyed a variety of great actors in amazing little roles. The best Anderson I have seen.

Mordförsök i Nizza (1960)

englanti Another beautiful example of how great Hammer studio was in these small, inconspicuous films. Excellent characters, excellent plot, which is true, a bit drawn out and true, ending a bit standardly, but it doesn't change the fact that you are constantly in tension, constantly in anticipation and you are groping just like the main hero.

Malteser falken (1941)

englanti A great classic and apparently one of the first films that can be labeled as a noir film. It's difficult because expressionism played with shadows similarly, and on the other hand, "The Maltese Falcon" somewhat avoids them, but the story about a statue that still cannot be found is brilliantly functional, and it also surprises with humor, not to mention the great ending.

Moving Takahashi (2011)

englanti What happens when you move your family and suddenly realize that the girl living in the house just swallowed some pills and is just waiting for the embalmers to take care of her? But neither the young man, who doesn't move much, has such intentions as it seemed at first glance. Such drama-no drama, which plays with the situation, but doesn't make much of it.

The Fountain (2006)

englanti I prefer other Aronofsky's movies, it is quite clear also from the ratings, but you simply cannot deny that this one has something to it, that it is primarily a story about the beauty of life and love. It is evident that Aronofsky is truly well-read in the Old Testament, as he demonstrated with his film "Noah", but neither in this case does he necessarily follow the traditional religious path, but adapts everything to himself. However, "The Fountain" is not a greater work because of it.

Wrong Turn 5 (2012) BOO!

englanti "Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines" is completely off track. Most of the horror series production nowadays is more believable, suspenseful, and terrifying, with better sets, better scene arrangement, and less boredom. Declan O'Brien has resigned from tension, and the characters' comedic mocking becomes the film's motto. I enjoyed some songs from the soundtrack the most, even though they didn't fit into the scenes, at least I could enjoy them.

Lady Eve (1941)

englanti Henry Fonda is incredibly adorable in the role of a dimwitted rich man, whom a beautiful stranger wants to swindle for money. However, not everything goes as planned and everything turns out differently. Sure, it's a bit cliché, but the performances are so excellent that you simply have to enjoy this comedy, including the absurd repetition of some funny elements.
