Der Lebensborn - Pramen života (2000)

englanti The Czech film Spring of Life caught my attention at school when we watched it as part of a lesson. It was probably in Czech, but I'm not sure. I was particularly interested in the subject matter, which I didn't know at the time. It is a strong subject with good characters in a film that deserves to reach the audience more.

Louis Pasteur (1936)

englanti The star of this film isn't Louis Pasteur himself, but primarily Paul Muni, who once again demonstrated what a great actor he is and how he can handle the roles of various controversial or significant characters without being overly dramatic. Sure, it lacks something compared to Scarface and Muni is stronger as Zola, but still, he's great.

Parasiitti - tehty tappamaan (1982)

englanti Predictable, and also a bit silly. It spins its wheels a lot, and sometimes you feel like nothing is happening, but still, I think it fulfilled its purpose and the viewer gets the parasite they expect. On the special effects side of things, it's nice to see that Band was going for classic special effects from the start, which is great.

Midnight Mass (2003)

englanti Midnight Mass isn't outright terrible by making you suffer when watching it, but it's just kind of bland, where you'll wonder why bother watching something that lacks a proper idea and real energy. It's simply a film that leaves nothing in you; honestly, I don't think it left much in the creators themselves. But maybe I'm wrong. But the film certainly doesn't give the viewer anything.

Tappava Valhe (2014)

englanti A good thriller that resonates with me because of the writer in the main role. What is such a writer willing to do to become successful? And how does he act when confronted with the fact that he cheated? A Perfect Man is a good, suspenseful, albeit somewhat alibi-driven and predictable alternative.

Palmeras en la nieve (2015)

englanti I was a little worried that the Spanish would not be able to handle such a big film, but it turned out that my fears were unfounded. As well as my concern that it would be a drawn-out romance. Sure, there's a romantic storyline, and it's important, but it's through it that the story is told, and it's not boring. Moreover, the period setting is well done.

Latidos de pánico (1983)

englanti It's a shame that the film is so unbalanced and unsure of what it actually wants to say. On one hand, there are great sequences with the knight, but on the other hand, now and then you will think that they don't really belong there. It's psychological for a while, but suddenly there's a big gore scene. This horror shouldn't be overlooked; it's good, but it has its flaws.

La Louve solitaire (1968)

englanti I must admit that I quite liked this enigmatic thief, who drew inspiration from characters like Arsène Lupin or even more so from the character Diabolik. It has a bit of a Bond vibe, it's sexy, it's just that sometimes it has these silent moments, which are also due to the absence of music, which is a bit irritating here. But I liked the nice B-movie atmosphere.

Siskokset (2015)

englanti I read an opinion below that this is a small film with a big heart, which I think is a description that fits the Japanese film perfectly. It's not spectacular, it's rather intimate, but it's not anything that tries to emotionally blackmail you. It's modest and it simply shows how human relationships can evolve, either through encounters or in the context of the death of loved ones.

Caligarista Hitleriin (2014)

englanti Fantastic interlude with an old German film, showing that even silent film could captivate and still does today, with some scenes being simply unforgettable. The sound films of the 1930s have their great examples, where M is simply a brilliant work, and the scenes captured here are chilling. But even better than a documentary will be the actual watching of the films themselves.
