Season 2 has stronger momentum, and the coronation of Anne Boleyn is a very attractive theme, as is her execution. It is necessary to watch it very quickly because then one’s adrenaline naturally rises or falls - according to the fading position of the second queen of Henry VIII. The birth of Elizabeth is truly prophetic, and how could it not be, given that Hirst made both films about her golden age? The Vatican scenes are great too. Meyers’ acting is amazing and gets beautifully more and more debauched. And there's so much more to come! The fragile Jane Seymour, for example.

Season 1 of Hirst's The Tudors on Showtime ushered in a new era of popularity for historical series for viewers accustomed to thinking, enjoying taboo subjects, and boldly choosing among the best of the best TV dramas on offer (in addition to Showtime, such programming has long been represented by HBO and, more recently, Starz). The story is familiar enough; the Boleyn family's entanglements with Henry VIII have inspired cinema since the beginning, from Méliès and Lubitsch to Chadwick in recent years. However, the retelling of Korda's The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933) remains legendary. So what is the royal court like with Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the lead role? Initially, it’s fairly straightforward, sleek, and calm (like Catherine of Aragorn) and therefore ideal for the invasion of Boleyn's girls. Sam Neill and Henry Cavill are also great in supporting roles. There are allegedly some historical inaccuracies, but those were never the issue in the first place. What is important is the general awareness of the culture of the Tudors, the humanization of names from history textbooks, and the excitement of the audience's imagination. As well as a passion for intrigue and reformation. And there's plenty of that. Inspired, viewers will then study literature on their own.

A traditional Czech crime drama with a divine cast, a very pissed-off Höger, the sexy Abrhám, while Brejchová is just there to be put on display. The plot is off, of course, and the title song is the most annoying example of "nails-scratching on the chalkboard." But just that's the way things were in this era. So in fact, we're all actually happy.

As we enter the second case, Cpt. Exner becomes a particularly enjoyable Prague event. I love seeing Exner walk around Prague, and the crime is committed in the 1st underground antique shop, and my God, the views from the Barrandov villas... Well, it has its better moments. Moreover, the guys have a nice bromance interaction with each other, and Exner himself reliably irritates professors and dentists of all natures. Overall, it’s pretty good.

Is Dlouhý's resolution of the first Exner case wonderful to the point of being great? Well, it’s not particularly dazzling, but it is certainly acceptable. I had a lot of fun with the mother who was ripe for marrying off her son played by Jitka Sedláčková, I liked Máša Málková, and the pair of old criminal elements, Tesařová and Nárožný, were also good. It's got good ideas in places, and I'm curious about what comes next. It’s much better than some of the other Czech series.

The Cpt. Exner series is a long-standing debt to the original Barrandov detective film The Treasure of the Byzantine Merchant, in which the hero of Václav Erben's original Czech detective stories first appeared. Debt, you ask? Yes, you read that correctly. During the normalization period, two more films were made for television and two more for movie theaters. Exner was never played by Vala again, and every single project started from scratch with its own Exner. It’s not an ideal calling card for an adaptation of a consistent series that has become a favorite among readers over the years. I, therefore, find this Prima series to be a nice idea. Unfortunately, each case split into two dilutes the pace of the investigation, which a large portion of the audience doesn't view with enthusiasm. However, there's so much more room to build a confident story between Exner (the sexy Dlouhý) and his Exner Girl (the sexy Kerekes, who is fabulously tongue-tied). Again, this is the motif that I searched for in vain in the normalization films, when the chemistry between Vala and Gabi Vránová started so successfully. Well, it's exactly, but I accept this debt with open arms and I look forward, maybe in the future, that some of the domestic TV stations will download it for other domestic investigators, because there really is a lot to draw from.

A rather depressing story to end on. The abridged second season charts revenge, courage, responsibility, and obsession. Our favorite Kryštof Hádek plays an absolutely excellent insidious introvert. Plesl and Vyorálek are good partners for him. Hana Maciuchová also shone here in miniature, playing the role in just three scenes as if she had the whole film to play it. It's not advisable to become an object of interest for someone even from the IT department ;) Be careful.

There's rarely a chance I won't give up on something where Dyk and Mádl are found side by side. Yet surprisingly, this story of Private Traps is one of the better ones. The realistically sketched drama between the fundamental questions of life deals with the usual life search and naming of one's place in the sun. Two ways of experiencing life are offered by two girls, each logically different. But both are pretty, young, and loving, so both would be worth considering. By controlling fate for a time, the one who thinks more conventionally will win, but the young artist, although he represents an artist who is not bohemian but responsible, needs a half of an open mind, with a passion for art, not bound by material certainties. It is good to know that such a mature balance can be observed even in the context of a purely commercial television production.

Unfortunately, this is too much of a theatrically anchored narrative about the failure of a single marriage. Why the framing of an unrealistic trust in a beauty salon? Moreover, in a beauty salon that is absurdly situated in the most attractive part of Prague's Lucerna Palace. Tereza Kostková tells and instructs beauticians on how walk away from a marriage that only drains you. There’s no surprising twist, just an illustration of a popular story that was already far too old. But of course, her eyes were opened by her idealized new counterpart and she automatically became beautiful in a moment of understanding (= the make-up artist chose evening make-up for the daily routine as well). Boring.

A seemingly banal and linear story about a father and his six-year-old daughter who lost their wife and mother. Her death was one of the most unnecessary, justice was not served for her, so the desire for revenge logically followed. A surprising twist and realistic emotions - in short, a very good opener for Season 2. The story is adorned with the then little-known actresses Holišová and Málková, and Langmajer and the tiny Anna Sikora make a good match. The honest relationship between father and daughter is chilling because watching them in their situation is really not easy.
