The Toolbox Murders is a well-made and slightly overly-complicated slasher movie with a killer in a ski mask, who rampages around an apartment complex with the help of a variety of tools (definitely more fun than The Driller Killer). Although every now and then the pace drags a bit, it’s definitely one of the more accomplished horror movies on the "video nasties" list.

The Toolbox Murders is a little, relatively original horror flick that starts off as a mindless gorefest with professional-grade instruments of death (a drill, shotgun, nail gun) used on beautiful girls and continues as a psychologically tense ode to the matter of Christian ethics versus sex. Even then, however, the blood doesn’t stop flowing and the feeling of repulsion intensifies with each passing minute. A slightly perverse video nasty that hits a target similar to that which, for example, the more gratuitious trash I Spit on Your Grave tried and failed to hit.
