Richard Chamberlain stars as Australian lawyer David Burton, who takes on the defense of a group of aborigines accused of killing one of their own. He suspects the victim has been killed for violating a tribal taboo, but the defendants deny any tribal association. Burton, plagued by apocalyptic visions of water, slowly realizes his own involvement with the aborigines...and their prophecies. (jakelijan virallinen teksti)

englanti Strange movie, which is thematically quite distant from us, on the other hand, it is possible to find something in it that we have lost in the present time. And that is a connection with nature and its mysteries. If we are willing to delve into the movie, it is probably possible to find a deep depth of thoughts in it, but the film certainly doesn't simplify it in any way. ()

englanti And it rains and it pours. In 1976 there was Satan, two years later viewers were touched by the Medusa, but before this in 1977 Weir flushed them both out with his contribution to this wave of mysterious movies kicked off at the beginning of the seventies by the Exorcist. What makes this a classic is not just the “evil with a human face", but mainly the heavily uneasy atmosphere which, the same as the former, nibbles away at you with a “but what if, after all..." ()

englanti Very well made and with a strong atmosphere, but so slow. The boredom is unavoidable, especially when there are very few topics that I find less interesting than Australian Aborigines… The person who in their review of The Medusa Touch recommended The Last Wave, saying that “it’s similar but a little better” must be mad.
