englanti For incomprehensible reasons, it is rumored that Czech cinema has almost no horror tradition and film productions falling into this genre. However, most of the current premieres of Czech films fill me with indescribable horror, and I am terrified of what the film creators will produce next. Jan Švankmajer, in this short film, abundantly fulfills the essence of the horror genre. Moreover, with the usual high dose of creativity, humorous exaggeration, and sophistication. The journey of a little girl into the basement of an apartment building is adventurous, full of fateful encounters and tension that oozes from every scene. Overall impression: 90%. Getting a basket of potatoes from the cellar to the kitchen table sure does take a lot of effort... ()
