Before It’s Too Late

Ali, a Tunisian tailor, spends most of his time looking for a treasure buried under his ramshackle house. After the house collapses, he finds himself stuck with his wife and two sons, and he is forced to learn to take care of them and find a way to save them. Not only do we enter a Tunisian house suffering from financial crises, where its suffering is reflected on its eroded walls. The film also reflects on the figure of the father, or authority, who is burdened by everyday challenges. Therefore, it was necessary for him and his family to go through this painful ordeal in order for them to change their perceptive of life. On another level of analysis, one can interpret that film reflects on the situation in Tunisia and its leaders, and the need to mend the cracks on the wall before it is too late.
