Witch

Selena, a single mother, living in a humble home, has expertise on black magic. When her daughter is kidnapped along with others by a prostitution ring, Selena is forced to use her skills to find her. On the first impression, Witch is a thriller, but what distinguishes it is the humane angle, where a single mother goes through a harsh test that forces her to use her special abilities in black magic to save her daughter from a prostitution ring and bear people’s ill-treatment. This changes overnight, when people starts to need her, hence the director is highlighting society’s contradiction and hypocrisy. (Cairo International Film Festival)
