I remember the original Critters exactly like this - as deliberate trash with not-very-interesting actors, but with the cute black humor from the all-powerful critters. What I really like about the new sequel/reboot, which kind of rides on the Stranger Things wave, is that the creators don't use digital effects but classic puppets... And that makes it all the funnier. Sure, it's no masterpiece, but why the rigorous evaluation?
