Eastern is a bizarre satire of the modern world, in which people can shoot each other if they do so according to certain rules (defending one’s honor, avenging one’s family, etc.). Society is alienated and everyone is cold, but sympathy develops between the target and the executioner from two rival families – this is probably the main motif, but with the unclear nature of the directing and a creative vision divorced from the values and principles of the real world, the film doesn’t make any kind of sense, not even metaphorical.
