Czechoslovakia in the era of the harshest Stalinism. Young Kryštof lives as a fresh postulant in a community of monks. In addition to silent prayers, he is also involved in the illegal transfer of people fleeing to Germany. During one of the events, he witnesses a brutal police crackdown on the students and decides to help them. He has no idea that Operation K is underway to destroy the male religious orders.
