Orhan Pamuk – Turkey's Nobel laureate for Literature – opens a museum in Istanbul. A museum that's a fiction: its objects trace a tale of doomed love in 1970's Istanbul. The tale of Kemal, the heir to a wealthy fortune, and his love for Füsun, a beautiful shop girl with whom he has a romantic affair days before his engagement to the aristocrat, Sibel. On the day of the engagement Füsun disappears. Unable to forget the love he felt for Füsun, Kemal takes solace in everything she ever touched, from cigarette buts to toothbrushes to cologne – everyday items with emotional significance, items that are now on display at The Museum of Innocence – one of Istanbul's prized cultural attractions. englanti A strange movie that tries to present a fictional story in the form of a wannabe narrative documentary, which is intertwined with the reality of today’s Istanbulin quite an interesting form. This movie is powerful due to the shots of Istanbul itself and then mainly thanks to the form in whichit tells the story of one unhappy love. I admit that at first, I didn’t know what to think, but the magic of Istanbul absolutely enchanted me later on. In fact, I must say that I don’t even know how to rate such a film. On the one hand, when I was watching, I thought that it would be enough for me to just listen to the commentary, but on the other, it would be a shame to miss the breathtaking visuals. ()
