Young small-town girl Emma travels to Paris, the capital of fashion, in order to realise her dreams of becoming a model. Life as an aspiring model is far from glamourous, with envious roommates, humiliating working conditions and brutal photographers. On a shoot, she meets star photographer Shane and what starts out as disharmony of the highest order is quickly transformed into a passionate romance, which in turn becomes a dangerous obsession for Emma. In 2012, Mads Matthiesen's debut Teddy Bear competed for a Dragon Award at GFF and now, just as then, an amateur actor is at the very epicentre of the film. The elegant The Model is a feast for the eyes: Paris looks divine, as do the models and the photography locations. But this is also a painful reminder of the naivité and scarce logic of the teenage years. (Göteborg Film Festival)

A young girl, who still knows nothing about the world, tries her luck in modeling because she obviously has what it takes. If people say it... Of course, she excels at it, but what's most tragic about the movie is that it grinds her down exactly as you would expect. One of the most boring films about modeling, which is not even saved by its "artistic" nudity. Why bother watching something when it's clear what it's going to be about?
