With her father, Werner, and her Turkish stepmother, Lila, Jasmine runs a Berlin café known for welcoming immigrants and political activists. When an American developer buys several buildings in the area, including the one that houses the café, Werner and Lila worry about the future of their business. The division between friends, family, and neighbours is heightened when Jasmine leaves her German boyfriend for a young Syrian refugee. (Montreal World Film Festival)
