Adelaide Wilson (Oscar®-voittaja Lupita Nyong’o) matkustaa perheensä kanssa lomailemaan lapsuudenkotiinsa Pohjois-Kalifornian aurinkoiselle rannikolle miehensä Gaben (Winston Duke) ja kahden lapsensa kanssa. Menneisyyden traumaattiset tapahtumat painavat hänen mieltään.
