Jay Oliva directs this children's animation sequel continuing the adventures of Batman/Bruce Wayne (voice of Jason O'Mara). During a run-in with the mean Heretic (Travis Willingham) and his gang, Batman is presumed dead after getting caught in a devastating explosion. Robin (Stuart Allan) continues his patrols with retired Robin Dick Grayson (Sean Maher) disguised as Batman. He fails to convince many, however, and the pair will require the help of Batwoman (Yvonne Strahovski) if they are to track down the missing superhero, whom they suspect is being held by Heretic as part of a sinister plot. englanti A slightly more mature animated film based on a comic book that shows what comics sometimes need. Mainly, darkness. This fits Batman perfectly, but I think all these characters can be a bit confusing to an unfamiliar viewer. There are simply too many different Bat-versions. But this belongs to the better ones in the genre. ()

englanti A nice fulfillment of the popular premise that the best Batman stories are the ones without him. Or if they have Batwing and Batwoman in the lead roles. Sure, it could use more dialogue and less action, but the fact that Batgirl will be involved next time is great. The parallel storyline from Justice League's The New 52 has its own themes, so it wouldn't be DC for Batman to fall behind with his own storyline. It almost wouldn't be worth it otherwise, going back to Batman and his kiddos in Son of Batman and Batman Vs. Robin. This way it's almost mandatory. And pleasant. Katy Kane was one of the main reasons I dove into The New 52. It's made its way into its own 40-issue series, and now it's finally a rightful partner to the entire Bat-universe. Good for her, good for us. And especially for Maggs. ()
