Hurmaavan erilaisessa Uglyvillen kylässä outous on aihe juhlaan, kummallisuutta pidetään arvossa ja kauneus on katsojan silmässä. Uglyvillessä Moxy ja hänen UglyDoll-ystävänsä asuvat onnellisina ylistäen elämää ja sen loputtomia mahdollisuuksia. Silloin tällöin taivaalta tupsahtaa uusia ihmeellisiä asukkeja koko kylän iloksi. Moxy rakastaa eriskummallista elämäänsä, mutta uteliaisuus johtaa kysymykseen: mitä on Uglyvilleä reunustavan vuoren takana? Moxy kerää yhteen läheisimmät ystävänsä ja yhdessä he lähtevät selvittämään asiaa. He löytävät toisen maailman, jossa kaikki on täydellistä. Siellä tavanomaisemmat nuket koulutetaan ja lähetetään ”oikeaan” maailmaan etsimään ihmislasten rakkautta. Täydellisessä maailmassa UglyDollsit ymmärtävät, mitä tarkoittaa olla erilainen, miltä tuntuu tavoitella rakkautta ja lopulta todeta, ettei tarvitse olla täydellinen ollakseen ainutlaatuinen.
