Maniac

An unexpected, multi-genre construct that gives Fukunaga the chance to flex all of his directorial muscles. A comedy, drama and action movie. Hill’s acting is a bit strained at the start (probably because of his diet), while Stone is full-on. Everything is superbly explained, easy to follow and, despite the complexity of the ideas presented, understandable. Great work in which I would like to have seen a bit more depth. (21.10.2020)

Best episode yet. The marvelous intro with Hill’s Icelandic over-acting and loony Emma in the main role grabs you by the throat. The shootout in the hall is luxury and the finale with the Rubik’s cube is super. Great build up to finale. Humor, action and textbook denouement. (20.10.2020)
