The beginning of Destination Wedding offers a very promising chemical constellation with a sprinkling of the charm of our favorite actors from the nineties. By the way, why is Winona out of focus? She is still just as pretty as she used to be and interesting thanks to her direct and sincere acting! But as the minutes pass, the screenwriter/director’s helplessness shines through. He seems to want to approximate Linklater’s Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight trilogy, but instead of following a precise and well-thought concept, he lets the main couple improvise in supposedly humorous situations and dialogue that are hopelessly witless or even constrained and nonfunctional (sex in a meadow). The only conceptual point of interest in this film is that almost no other person gets into the frame with the couple; supporting characters that barely appear are only watched by the couple from a distance.
