Teenaged Leah (Nicole Muñoz), who spends her free time dabbling in black magic and Satanism with her clique of friends. It's one way of avoiding a disastrous home life. Her mother (Laurie Holden) is falling part, locked in an unsuccessful battle with booze and depression, and lashing out in every direction. It doesn't help that adolescence isn't exactly an age known for hormonal equilibrium, or that Leah has inherited the matrilineal angst. When her mother abruptly moves them to a cabin in the countryside to escape her demons, an enraged Leah invites her own: she conjures the vindictive and unpredictable demon of the title. englanti The low-budget Pyewacket is simple in terms of its subject matter and filmmaking, but it is visually attractive and, mainly, scary. At least in the climax. Most viewers will probably find everything that comes before the climax to be shallow fluff about a withdrawn emo teenager with half-baked scares. True, the subject matter would be enough for one of three storylines in a feature-length movie. For me, however, it still provides atmospheric satisfaction. Those who are patient and like forests and very dark stories, and want to be scared, will get their money’s worth. ()

englanti Pyewacket suffers from the fact that it essentially fails to build up any scene, except perhaps the one where the mother and daughter argue with each other. As far as horror goes, it's kind of a linear bore from beginning to end that's bearable, but doesn't deliver anything that can pull you in. Even the performances don't really save it. You won't remember the plot of the film for very long after finishing it. ()
