Aubert introduces his principals in a casual, almost cinema-verité style. They include a well-to-do woman; a young farm boy who has killed his parents; a strangely silent hipster (Monia Chokri) with a suspicious wound that just won't heal; and the presumptive hero, Bonin (Marc-André Grondin), who has acclimatized to the apocalypse very quickly and may be the only one with a belief in a future. englanti This zombie survival drama comes from the land of the Gallic rooster, but its locations seem to be right in the Czech Republic. The characters are not very interesting and the story is unremarkable both in its narrative pace and visual aspect. However, the gloomy atmosphere and dramatic depth of the despair portrayed give the film some character. [Sitges FF] ()

englanti An arthouse take on the zombie survival genre that doesn’t rush and where the action happens as if by the way, which is pretty interesting. The camera is static, the attacks happen rather out of frame, but the zombies can still be pretty fast, and there’s no point waiting for action set pieces. We don’t get to know how the zombie epidemic broke out and what caused it. The same applies to the characters: we meet them and follow their paths for a bit, without any risk of getting to know something more about them; they simply don’t communicate, even among themselves. All this generates a rather gloomy atmosphere of total resignation and apathy; a world where pretty much everyone is reconciled with the fact that civilisation has irreparably collapsed. ()

englanti A bland Canadian artsy zombie new release that didn't make much of an impression on me. I had the feeling that the film doesn't start or end in any way, you learn almost nothing about the characters, so you don't even root for them. Visually I found it almost repulsive with dull locations. Also 90% of the deaths are out of frame and one blown off head didn't put impress me, though this scene was one of the best. The only thing that could be theoretically praised is the gloomy atmosphere and the naturalistic look, but these are attributes I don't look for, so for me it's average for trying and bringing something new. The film will find its fans, but I won't be one of them. 55% ()
