Alexandr Bertenev (Schubert for friends) is a Listener – he has an uncanny ability to discern sounds and hear noises that do not exist for ordinary people. But a tragic mistake has prevented him from becoming an employee of the Counter Terrorism Department. Now it's other tragic events that once again lead him to the Special Force. Bertenev's wife Olga is murdered and their apartment is turned upside down. Afterwards Schubert discovers, that Olga, an ordinary therapist, had a second and very dangerous life.
