Wendy (Dakota Fanning) sees things differently: She¹s fiercely independent, with a brilliant mind and a mischievous sense of hilarity. Wendy also has autism. Dakota Fanning very realistically portrays an autistic girl, but the storyline doesn’t differ from every typical road movie. Three stars are enough for this kind of a film.

I was annoyed by how Toni Collette and Alice Eve’s acting skills were put to waste. With this pair of actresses, the creators could have easily taken it to a whole other level. This way, the whole story was solely based on Dakota Fanning’s excellent performance, without any other storylines, which I think was a shame. Since the protagonist of the film was socially impaired, I wiggled my ears out of joy and added an extra star, as the theme is close to my heart.
