It's 1992. Young Dina lives in a remote mountain village where life is strictly governed by centuries of tradition. Is it possible to defy the firmly established order? And, if it is, what price must a person pay for doing so? Debut director Mariam Khatchvani set her first film in Svaneti, the stark mountainous region in northwestern Georgia where she herself was born, and she presents us with an authentic portrayal of a number of customs and traditions associated with this province. Watch this movie. And think about how challenging and difficult it was to live in Georgia in 1992 in the middle of beautiful mountains and remind yourself about your life in that year. I for example was rocking in my duck rocker and listening to the radio. But that is a different story. In the movie Dede the life was so hard people had trouble surviving. Today you would simply go to the hospital, then and there you could easily die. An exemplary Georgian drama showing real life in Georgian mountains.
