The Second life of Jitka K.

This documentary film is about a fight with an insidious disease and the significance of hope and friendship. The story focuses on a young woman whose day to day life was abruptly changed by a diagnosis of acute leukaemia. Jitka describes her struggles on the path to recovery and stresses the immense importance of the support of her close friends and also that of complete strangers, who went out of their way to help her. In this film from director Vojtěch Kopecký, we follow the protagonist's journey through the crucial moments from over three years of her life – from her initial health problems to the diagnosis of acute leukaemia and hospitalisation. Later, we accompany Jitka during her lengthy convalescence and gradual return to a normal but substantially altered life. This personal account aims to help and support those whose life has been affected by leukaemia. (Academia Film Olomouc)
