Fukumenkei Noise

"You wrote that song for me, right? Do not sing it for him!" There is a nice and interesting love triangle in this anime series. I have not seen (or heard) so many loud and intense emotional outbursts in a long time. That is right, the main protagonist thinks she can express her love to her Momo by screaming, and the louder it gets, the more chances he is going to hear it. Anyway, I can say that after that aspect, it worked quite well for me, and I even believed in their struggles and their incredible efforts. Love can sway a person this intensely; anyone who has loved can have no doubts about that. However, the truth is that my final impression of everything that happened is about the same as in the lyrics of Linkin Park's song, In the End: "I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter." In other words, everyone in this show (except for Momo) goes all out, even though the result is basically that nothing really goes anywhere. Sure, the characters are somewhat developed; most of them gain more confidence; however, the narrative and its plot just spiral around and around, loudly and intensely, for the entirety of the twelve episodes. I would also count the animation and soundtrack among the somewhat unappealing things. Both seemed too edgy and supposedly hardcore for my taste. Sure it fits the band's style, but even so, this just was not my cup of tea. Also, I do not know if I was watching the wrong version, but the music sounded very strange at times. It was like when you are recording with a band at home on a crappy and cheap recording device (which may have been on purpose, to make it sound like a real performance). Furthermore, parts of the final episode and the concert footage, which is partly 3D, were once again pretty weak. I liked the rest of it, though and the characters were interesting, for example. Nino is not a typical girl protagonist, she is just her own person, and I quite like her for that. Momo was quite irritating most of the time, he was the biggest hindrance to any development, and his tragic hero posing drove me insane at times. Yuzu was much better; I found him believable. He may have been dubbed this show's king of "the Friend Zone," but I admire the way he acts like an absolute dude. Anyway, it is still more or less as convoluted as it was initially, with other aspects slowly being added (like the two boys' mothers) that could make it even more interesting in the next season, which I am probably going to watch. However, I "only" have a pretty good feeling about this one. 6.3/10. (28.06.2017)
