At times, there are scenes here that almost suggest that this movie will be cool, or that it will be interesting or perhaps even scary. It's a nice glimmer of hope where you think, "Yeah, now it's going to be worth something. But in the end, it still doesn't amount to much and it's exactly the mediocre film it pretends not to be from the start.
