Club de Reyes

The music soundtrack, almost continuous throughout the film, has a clear artistic and narrative justification here. It feeds, as much as the image does, the spirit of this document which starts as a sentimental chronicle of 'El Johnny', the San Juan Evangelista Hall of Residence, symbol of (counter) cultural and political resistance, and becomes a deserved panegyric to Alejandro Reyes, programmer of its Music Club. Top class musicians from the most diverse genres passed through that sound box: from Wynton Marsalis to Morente, from Ali Farka Touré to Astrud Gilberto. This is confirmed by the polyphony of witnesses and sounds (some as moving as the live recording of Camaron's last concert, caressed in screen memory by some beautiful animated illustrations).
