While there is some continuity, it's essentially more thematic continuity. The opening scene, where a young man dies while skiing, is one of those moments where you're not sure whether to laugh or take it seriously. And it's the same with the overall development, where you realize that everything could be a bit different, but the romance is still there. It’s too long.
