Ishirô Honda, with his next film, showed just how much the Japanese tried to exploit the fact that kaiju films were incredibly popular. Instead of focusing on the story, Toho Studio produced one identical film after another, where the only variation was slightly different characters and slightly different monsters. "Daikaijû Baran" was a glaring example of the effort to make a lot of money taking precedence over providing the audience with something extra. Honda repeats himself constantly, although it cannot be denied that, technically, the films are still excellent. (16.03.2014)
