This film surprised me. I didn't expect it to grab me like this, but the character of Mr. Chips is so interesting that his fate leaves you anything but indifferent, even in this television adaptation, which does him no harm whatsoever. A touching film, but it doesn't try to push the envelope unnecessarily, so you won't mind its concept.
