Wow. Star Trek as a dark and sometimes really unpleasant series about the flip side of an otherwise always clearly defined universe... respect for the course it took. It's not a matter of exploring the boundaries of the series, it's a leap over them. That's why it finally becomes a thing worthy of more than just polite fan interest... ST in this form can live long and blissfully if it does not fondly drown in bouts of depression.
