Saidžaku muhai no Bahamut

I foolishly thought that this season would be different. How do you write a review of an anime series that, for about the twentieth time, once again contains just about every cliché one can imagine regarding "magical school"? I do not know how to describe my annoyance at the main male protagonist getting introduced using "boobie grabs" or accidentally seeing the main female protagonist naked. Likewise, I ponder how original it is that the person in question is always a total tsundere whose honor has been so tarnished that she wants to fight the main male protagonist all the time. There is simply strong respect for tradition in Japan. One of those traditions happens to be that there has to be a "magical school" anime series every season. The show usually has an extraordinary main male protagonist, the princess of all tsundere, and fights. This time they have added mecha to the fantasy party, and it is a mess of truly outrageous proportions. As well as thinking about all of this, I am also wondering why I keep watching this? Why am I not able to drop it when the male protagonist meets the female protagonist, and I already know what I am dealing with? The answer is simple! I keep believing that even among the magical schools containing tons of clichés, there will be one that will deliver something I have never seen before and will be original. Unfortunately, something tells me that this anime series will not be it. On the other hand, there is some pretty decent animation and soundtrack here, so I am watching all these clichés in a rather proper context and well-produced form. When I compare it to the other "magical school" anime series I have seen, it is more like one of the better ones, so two stars. 4/10. (11.01.2016)
