Based on the acclaimed book Denial: Holocaust History on Trial, Denial recounts Deborah E. Lipstadt’s (Rachel Weisz) legal battle for historical truth against David Irving (Timothy Spall), who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. In the English legal system, in cases of libel, the burden of proof is on the defendant, therefore it was up to Lipstadt and her legal team, led by Richard Rampton (Tom Wilkinson), to prove the essential truth that the Holocaust occurred. This is one of those films that really should be shown in schools. Strong acting performances sometimes have the power of entire libraries of good books.

Good film, which chose an interesting topic. Where is the evidence that the extermination of Jews in concentration camps really happened? Where is Hitler's order? I know it sounds a bit strange, but there is a quite interesting legal process built around it, in which Timothy Spall excels in a negative role.
