Huippumenestykseksi Ranskan elokuvateattereissa noussut draamakomedia Bélierin perhe kertoo aivan tavallisesta maitotilaa pitävästä perheestä, johon kuuluu isä, äiti ja kaksi lasta. On vai yksi piirre, joka erottaa heidät muista: isä, äiti ja pikkuveli Quentin ovat kuuroja. Tytär Paula (säkenöivä Louane Emera esikoisroolissaan) kuulee ja puhuu – ja eräänä päivänä koulun musiikinopettajalle (Eric Elmosnino) selviää, että Paula on myös poikkeuksellisen lahjakas laulaja. Paulalle tarjotaan ainutkertaista mahdollisuutta osallistua Pariisissa toimivan huippukuoron pääsykokeeseen. Hänen vanhempansa eivät pidä ajatuksesta, sillä viittomakielen tulkkina ja kuulevina korvina tytär on heille korvaamaton apu jokapäiväisessä elämässä. Paula ei halua pettää perheensä luottamusta, mutta tällainen tilaisuus tulee eteen ehkä vain kerran elämässä! Koko perhe on vaikean ratkaisun edessä. (Finnkino)

I didn’t know any actors in this movie but I hoped for the good old French comedy which is usually nice and can surprise a viewer a lot. And I got it. The unknown actors created a fabulous comedy for all kinds of people which will become a famous classic one day in my opinion. The creators are making fun of everything and everybody in a very nice way. But at the same time they are telling a nice family story with a very emotional ending. I laughed a lot, I got emotional and in the end I had to admit I hadn’t seen such a great French movie in a very long time. Thumbs up!

I will admit straight away that I was expecting some silly nonsense, but in the end, I got an immensely entertaining film that is not only a comedy, but mainly a film that is capable of conveying interesting topics in a way that is funny, while at the same time getting to their essence. And moreover, it is not unnecessarily pathetic or sentimental. A very pleasant surprise.

A bit eccentric yet endearingly charming musical comedy about an unconventional family that nothing can easily shake. The French language is extremely melodic, which made the singing parts sound better, which in another language would probably lose their power. I didn't like some of the humorous situations, but otherwise, I enjoyed the film. (75%)
