Young Italian Guglielmo Marconi emigrated from Bologna province to his mother's native England and dazzled the Admiralty with his invention, wireless communication. The German Kaiser wanted to get hold of it at all cost, realizing the military potential, especially at sea. An English consortium soon paid a fortune for his patent.
